How Do You Want to Feel?
Creating a new habit is much easier when you have a deeper connection to the reason why you are trying to add it. For example, losing weight is boring, and it goes against your body’s innate desire to take in as many calories as possible. When you understand the forces that are moving against your hope for a new way of doing things you can build a better argument to stick with your plans. At the end of this workshop you will have a personalized guide to help you stick to your new habits.
This workshop is online so you can be warm and cozy with a cuppa something and your favorite journal and writing utensil. You are even welcome to hang out in your PJs.

October Restorative Series with Betty
Yoga Nidra
One of the most restorative practices in yoga can be relaxing into a Yoga Nidra. An hour of Yogic Sleep is said to be equivalent to 3-4 hours of regular sleep without actually losing awareness. This would include at least 1 full sleep cycle which involves going down through the 5 stages of sleep to the deepest level of healing sleep and back up again. During sleep, our bodies ‘power down’ to allow for energy storage, self-repair and brain maintenance essential to health. Our brains especially need quality deep sleep to adapt neural pathways in response to learning and new experience. This Nidra will include the usual sequential elements crafted to allow time, space and reason to become more and more fluid. Finally a story or two may speak to you on a symbolic or subconscious level before you return to full wakefulness. So come enjoy a relaxing journey through the body and beyond with Betty Longo. Wear cozy or comfortable clothing.

Move to Restore
It is well known that exercise is beneficial for healthy brain function. Different types of exercise addresses different areas or brain function. An essay- 10 Neurological Benefits of Exercise written by Catherine Moore published in Positive Psychology in 2019- says that exercise improves memory, cognitive functioning, concentration and mental health and reduces stress, anxiety, depression and brain fog. In this hour and a half long class you will move through the various kinds of exercise- strengthening, cardio, stretching and resting to target as many aspects of your nervous system as possible in one session.

October Restorative Series with George
Yin Yoga with a Thai Flare
In Yin poses are held for longer periods of time- around 3-5 minutes each- to create a tension in connective tissues that results in a deep, beneficial stretch. This also creates tension in the conversation between your body and your mind with the observance of Change. Props can be used to create various degrees of tension appropriate for the practitioner.
Restorative Yoga practice on the other hand, I view as minimizing tension in most, if not all areas of the Yogi's body, with as complete support as possible , necessitating prop usage. My Restorative version also includes a musical background, and hands on Yoga assists, acquired during my study of a month of Thai Yoga at the Triple Gem School,
formerly of North Adams MA. Quotes are read from wisdom teachers of various sources :Taoist, Buddhist, Advaita, Indigenous Peoples, Christian tradition and Poets. Asanas can range from 10-15 minutes.

Leading from a place of authenticity, presence, curiosity, and heart; my approach stems from self-inquiry-based somatic exploration and learning; focusing in trauma, post traumatic growth, addiction, body based presence, and the quest of the true Self. I blend the art and science of yoga with the self-care and lifestyle approach of Ayurveda. I believe this combination offers a pathway to connection, embodiment, truth, and transformation.
